A Touch of Magic...
This spacious house has been built in the traditional
style. However, it has been designed for the comfort of guests, including
full central heating and double glazing throughout.
Situated on the Strond / Borrisdale road, Leverburgh, South Harris, this secluded house has the hills at the rear and the sea to the front, with the nearest neighbours being quarter of a mile on either side. A days’ round trip, by car or bus, will take you to either :- The southern tip of South Uist, Benbecula
and North Uist,
or Thus making Carminish House the ideal central point to explore the bulk of the Western Isles. |

Accommodation and Dining
The house has one double room
and two twin rooms available for guests. The twin beds can be converted to super king size doubles on prior request. The two front rooms in particular
(Lapwing & Puffin), have wonderful
views and all rooms have private ensuite facilities.
There is a resident's lounge with stunning panoramic views over the Sound of Harris and the Carminish Islands. An open fire in the lounge provides an extra welcome at colder times, though central heating is available in all rooms at all times.
There is a payphone and satellite TV and free Wi-Fi connections to broadband or a computer can be made available to guests for internet connections or downloading digital pictures. Free laundry and drying facilities are available. Packed lunches can be arranged. All guest accommodation has easy access on the ground floor. The house is all non smoking within and has its own garden and car parking. There is also covered storage for bicycles.
Children and pets are welcome.

Dining
Dinners:-
There are excellent licensed local places to eat within a few
minutes walk or drive to satisfy most palates and pockets - The Anchorage restaurant
at Leverburgh pier and the Rodel Hotel at Rodel harbour. We can transport walkers & cyclists to and from Rodel if required or to the Anchorage in bad weather.
If guests have special reasons to dine at Carminish House (particularly in Winter when the Anchorage and Rodel Hotel may be closed), a three course Table-d’hôte dinner can be provided if pre booked. We do not have a table licence for alcohol but guests are very welcome to bring their own.
À la carte breakfast :-
In addition to the familiar full Scottish breakfast fayre, there is a choice
of fish dishes, and various Scottish grilled puddings (black, white and fruit from the world famous Charles Macleod in Stornoway).
Wherever possible local produce is used in the preparation of meals with traditional Scottish recipes. Special dietary requirements can be met.
Why not try a Winter visit when it is even more peaceful and just as beautiful?
We hope you will come and enjoy ‘a touch of Carminish Magic’ with your hosts
Howard & Sallie.
